According to this model, everything is made of energy, including our bodies. Our thoughts and behaviors are the result of chemical and electrical impulses that run through our bodies. When something interferes with the natural flow of these impulses, our natural energy flow is blocked, and we become stuck in unhealthy emotional and physical states that can create stress, fear, and disease.

Very simply put, EFT is a method of clearing those blocks in the body’s energy system. It is often referred to as psychological acupuncture because it works in a way similar to acupuncture, but uses no needles. It effectively clears blocks and restores energy flow through an easy-to-learn technique that can be done anywhere, and at any time, in just a few minutes.

The procedure involves tapping on various acupressure points while simultaneously working with your limiting thoughts. It can be done on your own, or with the help of a practitioner. It is an easy and painless process, and generally produces incredible results on-the-spot.

A “Waking” Hypnosis

In addition to Gary’s energy model, EFT has been found to be an extremely effective form of “waking” hypnosis. It induces a light trance state and effectively bypasses the critical faculty, allowing positive change to occur at the level of the subconscious mind.

And because it is a “waking” hypnosis – used while the subject is fully awake and interactive, it can be successfully used by individuals to resolve and accomplish the same things that have been traditionally accomplished through hypnotic age regression therapy with a therapist or hypnotherapist.
